NPS FY26 Budget Information & Additional Resources

Dear Peirce Caregiver Community,

As you have all likely heard from both Superintendent Anna Nolin and Mayor Ruthanne Fuller, the NPS Budget for FY 2025-26 is currently under review. The delta between the two proposed budget increases is quite considerable, and there have been several meetings over the past couple of weeks to discuss.

The Newton PTO Council has created this PDF to break down the budget and what we as schools can expect based on what budget is approved.

If you are interested in vocalizing your concerns to city officials, we encourage our caregivers to do the following:

  • Write/call the School Committee to voice support for the Superintendent’s proposed budget and encourage them to pass it
    • Adding specific language about why funding NPS is important to you is always a good idea
  • Write/call the Mayor and say you support the Superintendent’s Proposed Budget and the Mayor should increase NPS’ allocation so that the Proposed Budget can be implemented
    •  Adding specific language about why funding NPS is important to you is always a good idea

Additionally, we want to make everyone aware that there is an NPS Community Budget Meeting with Anna Nolin this Thursday, 3/27 at 6:30PM to provide an overview of the proposed budget. The meeting will take place at Brown Middle School, 125 Meadowbrook Road in Newton, or may be attended virtually by Zoom. We strongly encourage our caregivers to tune in so that they can ask any budget-related questions and hear directly from the Superintendent.

Finally, our next Caregiver/Principal Coffee will include a visit from Anna Nolin and two School Committee members. This coffee will take place on Tuesday, April 15 at 8:30AM in the Peirce auditorium. We encourage all of our caregivers to attend so that they can ask any relevant questions to the School Committee members.

As always, if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us directly.

Best,Abby Blake & Erica Chamberlain
Peirce PTO Co-Presidents
