Dear Peirce Community,
The Newton Public Schools principals want to acknowledge the significant stress our communities have experienced since Friday. While we are not part of the negotiation process, we have been receiving updates from Dr. Nolin and the School Committee, and we are focused on supporting our students, families, and staff when we return to school.
Despite this stressful moment, we firmly believe that the NPS School Committee and Newton Teachers Association share a commitment to ensuring a high-quality education for our students and getting them back to school as soon as possible. Our principal team has been meeting throughout the week to plan for our return to school. When we return, our priority is to rebuild and restore the sense of community for all our stakeholders.
Below are resources which may be helpful to families during this time:
- Talking to Kids About Strikes Resource Document
- Special Education FAQ
- Newton Social Services Support for Families
We all hope a resolution is reached soon and look forward to welcoming students back to school. We care deeply for our educator colleagues and respect the work they do in support of our students every day. Supporting our children in the classroom and in our schools is the work we all love to do.
Thank you for your continued partnership.
