Dear Peirce Parents and Caregivers, 

Here we are, going into a Fourth Day with No School.  The challenge and uncertainty goes without saying.  We wish we had some inside information on the longevity of this Strike.  Despite the many meetings we have sat through, we have no further clarity on the state on the teacher’s strike.  However, we do have a few more child care options in our neighborhood to share.  

• The New Art Center, www.newartcenter.org 61 Washington Park
  • The New Art Center will be holding a drop-in program for grades K-5.  There will be a morning section (8am-12pm) and an afternoon section (12pm-4pm) with an option for aftercare (4pm-5pm).
  • You can sign your child up for one or both sessions and it is a “pay as you can” program with a suggested tuition of $50 per section and $20 for aftercare

• YMCA is holding a camp School Holidays & Vacation Weeks | West Suburban YMCA (wsymca.org)
  • The West Suburban YMCA OST Program will hold a Snow Day/Closure Day Camp. We will offer this camp for children in grades K-8 operating from 8:30AM-4:00PM.  The program will group children by grade and will feature a variety of sports, art, educational and recreational activities throughout the day. Families will be asked to provide a water bottle, two snacks and a lunch for your child. Please also have your child wear sneakers for ease of access during the program. Grades K-8, $120, $20 discount for members

  • Weekday Music Sessions 10AM-2PM During The Strike – If the strike continues and school is closed The Conservatory will provide weekday camp sessions allowing the students to spend some time making and learning music. 10AM-2PM!
