In celebration of World Kindness Day, the Community Impact committee is holding a food drive to benefit the Newton Food Pantry. The Pantry’s need is now greater than ever as they continue to provide food to more than 1,500 Newton residents who cannot afford to eat. And, beyond Newton, food insecurity continues to be one of the greatest needs in Massachusetts, with 1 in 11 children impacted by hunger.
So, let’s do what we can to help. Collection bins will be outside the front and back entrances during drop off and pick up on Wednesday, November 10 and Friday, November 12. We are collecting the following items, which are currently most needed at the pantry:
- Canned Tuna
- Ground Coffee
- Hearty Soup
- Boxed Cereal
- *Please, no open or expired items, or glass containers.
You can also order other most-needed items from the Newton Food Pantry’s Amazon Wish List. The order will be delivered directly to Newton Food Pantry — just select that as the delivery address upon checkout.
World Kindness Day will be celebrated in school on Friday, November 12th. Teachers may also highlight this initiative in their discussions with their classes as an example of a simple act of kindness.
