Dear Peirce Families:
Two weeks ago, the Selection Advisory Committee (SAC) consisting of administrators, educators and parents/guardians interviewed candidates for the principal position. After thoughtful deliberations, the SAC recommended candidates to be semi-finalists. Yesterday, the semi-finalist candidates had an extensive interview with me and other district and school leaders at Bowen. Candidates were asked to share their observations from classroom visits and reflect on a range of educational and leadership issues and scenarios.
I am pleased to announce that we have a finalist candidate who was unanimously recommended by the Selection Advisory Committee and our leadership team. Our finalist is Andrea Vargas who is currently the assistant principal at the Newman Elementary School in Needham. Andrea also served as a literacy coach and classroom teacher in Needham. Andrea is a graduate of the Harvard University Extension School and has master’s degrees from Lesley University and Endicott College.
The final step in this process is for Andrea to spend a full day at Peirce. On Tuesday, February 15, she will have the opportunity to meet with a range of stakeholders in the community throughout the day including faculty and staff, parents/guardians, students and administrators. We are offering an open meeting for Peirce families to meet the candidate on Tuesday, February 15 at 8:30 a.m.

While we only have one finalist at this time, the candidate will be measured against the same high standards that we have for all the principal candidates in Newton.
