Hi Peirce caregivers,
We are writing to remind you of two events taking place this week that center around the ongoing debate over the NPS budget for next school year.
Please join Principal Vargas, Superintendent Nolin and School Committee members tomorrow, April 15 at 8:30AM in the Peirce gym for a principal coffee. The superintendent and school committee members will be giving an overview of the budget crisis and answering parent questions.
Then, on Thursday, April 17 at 7PM at City Hall (2nd Floor), there will be aCity Council meeting where the Finance and Programs & Services Committee will hear the NPS budget. The PTOC is making an advocacy push to pack the room with concerned parents. Tentatively, Chris Brezski and Anna will be presenting the budget that the School Committee passed (which is $3.4-$3.7M less than the allocation). The Joint Committee will ask questions and discuss the budget and may hold a straw vote that night on the NPS budget. For parents who are asking–what can I do?—show up that night. We want the room to be overflowing so it is a visible representation of how important this issue is–and how many of us are paying attention.
