Wondering what to do with all of that extra Halloween candy?! Donate it! To kickoff our Community Impact initiatives for the year, we’ll be collecting excess Halloween candy to donate to service members and veterans through Treats for Troops, an initiative through the Soldiers’ Angels organization.
There are two ways to participate:
- Collection bins will be outside entrances to Peirce the week after Halloween, November 1 – November 5 (no collection on Tuesday due to Election Day).
- The City of Newton will also be collecting for Treats for Troops at the annual pumpkin smash on Saturday, November 6, so that’s another opportunity to put excess halloween candy to good use and compost your jack-o-lanterns at the same time!
Treats for Troops accepts most candy, with a few restrictions:
- Unopened, individually wrapped candy only.
- NO homemade or handmade candy.
- NO baked goods, homemade or store-bought
- YES we take chocolate and it does not need to be separated.
