Parents who volunteered in the spring will be contacted separately to determine continued interest and availability, and do not need to fill out the form again.
There is no guarantee that everyone who expresses interest will be able to be accommodated in the spots available – 3 for the SAC and up to 8 for small group interviews. Our goal is to ensure a diversity of experiential perspectives amongst those in the room (including METCO, ELL, Special Education, new and veteran families, PEDP families, etc.). All Peirce parents and guardians will also be invited to participate on a community call (likely over Zoom) with the finalists.
Selection Advisory Committee
Three parents/guardians will serve along with five Peirce faculty/staff members on the Selection Advisory Committee. The SAC’s role will be advisor to the Superintendent, who will appoint the principal. The Committee will engage in a process which will take into consideration the needs of Peirce Elementary as it crafts interview questions, chooses candidates for interviews, and suggests semi-finalists to the Superintendent.
SAC members are required to attend a planning meeting on Wednesday, Jan 12 from 3-4:30pm as well as candidate interviews on Wednesday, Jan 19 from 8am-3pm and Thursday, Jan 20 from 8:30am-12:30pm. All meetings will be in-person at 100 Walnut Street in Newton. Additional planning meetings may be needed as well.
Small Group In-Person Interviews
Up to eight parents/guardians will join small group in-person interviews with finalist candidates. These conversations are tentatively scheduled for Monday, Feb 14 and Tuesday, Feb 15. Exact times tbd.
