Peirce School Green Team is collecting unused, unopened school lunch items that would otherwise be thrown away, and diverting them to the Newton Community freedge, a food distribution site organized by the Newton Food Pantry where members of our community experiencing food insecurity can come anytime and take needed food items for free.
Volunteers are needed on Tuesday and Friday afternoons (starting this week) to pick up bags of food at the back entrance of Peirce at dismissal time and transfer them to the Freedge located at 420 Watertown St. in Nonantum (parking lot of Central Drapery and Drycleaning).
Sign up to volunteer for delivery duty on our SignUpGenius form and contact Elizabeth Heilig with any questions.
