Dear Peirce Families,
As we head into the final three weeks of the school year, there are many end-of-year events, including:
- Fifth Grade Concert on May 30th.
- Final field trips for several grade levels.
- Progressfolios for all grade levels.
- Color Day on June 4th, thanks to Mr. Nye, including our annual Fun Run, benefiting the O’Guin Education Fund (information went home with students today).
- Paw City (Community Building Project) on June 5th.
- Fifth Grade Variety Show on June 6th.
- Family Dance on June 14th
- Fifth Grade Graduation on June 17th.
- 12:00 Dismissal on June 18th (the start of Summer Vacation!)
I hope to see many of you at these events!
Our new Kindergarten children and families will visit Peirce on June 7th to tour the school and meet the teachers. As of this date, we have 43 new Kindergartners enrolled in 2 classrooms. This Kindergarten enrollment gives us a total of 13 classrooms for next year, which is the same as this year.
We are sad to learn that Second Grade Teacher Sarah Hawke will not be returning to Peirce next year, and we are also happy that she will have the opportunity to spend more time with her beautiful young children. We are grateful for all that Sarah has meant to our learning community for the past eight years, and we wish the Hawke family much joy and success in their new adventures and future relocation plans. We are currently conducting a search for our new Second Grade Team Member, and I look forward to sharing this news and additional staffing information in August.
Congratulations to our Fourth Grade students and Music Teacher Olivia de Geofroy on a fantastic choral and instrumental concert last Thursday!
Fifth Grade Concert: The Fifth Grade concert will be held this Thursday, May 30th. There will be 10:00 a.m. (for students and staff only) and 7:00 p.m. (for families) performances.
Color Day will be next Tuesday, June 4th, with a Rain Date of June 11th. Thanks to Mr. Nye and many parent volunteers, we will enjoy one of our favorite days of the school year! Information and Pledge Sheets went home with students today regarding our Fun Run for the O’Guin Education Fund. We are pleased to support one of our own Peirce families during a difficult season of tragic loss.
Please plan to join us next Wednesday evening, June 5th, 5:00-8:00 p.m. and visit Paw City, which is the culminating activity of our yearlong Community Building Project. Thanks to Art Teacher Georgia Smith and committed parent volunteers, our students have learned about many of the factors, from natural resources to city design, that influence the quality of life in a community.
Progress Report Access: Progress Reports will be available to parents online at noon on Friday, June 14th.
Class lists will be distributed via email on August 23rd. It is essential that we have your current email address for effective distribution. If you need to edit the address on file, please send it to [email protected].
Curriculum Night: Curriculum Night for the 2019-20 School Year will be held on Tuesday evening, September 24th.
With best summer wishes,
Mark Chitty
